It is vital that Cornwall and the IoS understands how future population and economic developments will impact on its environment; including climate change, energy security, land management, materials and human capital in the years ahead. It is essential that knowledge is gathered in order to assist in investment decisions and the development of knowledge and skills in Cornwall and the IoS. It will support a number of developments across Cornwall and the IoS particularly the Convergence Programme, Strategy & Action, CUC expansion and the development of the Local Area Agreement. There are three key concepts to this project:
- Formalise and quantify baseline data and information surrounding key Environmental Issues in Cornwall.
- Determine the limiting factors to population and economic growth in Cornwall in terms of energy, land and food usage and others.
- Determine the position and linkage of Cornwall in terms of Environmental Sustainability against global impacts (including national and international relationships).
